Connecting people to home
Everyone deserves solid information for one of the most important decisions we make–where to live.
Housing Navigator Massachusetts, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit promoting equity and ease in finding a home. Our first release–a free, online tool–makes it simple to search for affordable rentals statewide.
How does it work?
Working with owners and public sector partners, we’ve built a database of income-restricted rentals from all over the state. We show listings whenever we have reliable, actionable information. Property owners verify their listings to take things one step further—everywhere you see the “Verified” sign—ensuring that renters find details they can trust.
We Want to Do Even More.
Our first release featured 2100+ properties in 260+ cities and towns. One year later, 100,000 users had searched for housing using our site, and we were showing 2600+ properties. By early 2023, it was 3000 listings. And searches on our site averaged one per minute. We’ll keep digging to bring more listings to light. And we’ll keep adding options and improvements to make searches even better and more useful.
I love how user friendly it is. The filters, the map and the info that pops up, the information I am looking for is easy to find. Other websites have random information or it is disorganized or I don't trust it. This site is one I trust to give the most accurate information.
The Need for Housing Navigator
Massachusetts has some of the highest rents in the nation—making affordable housing even more vital. Yet there has been no easy way to answer the simplest question—Where is housing I can afford?
Our tool helps renters and affordable housing owners find each other.
Beyond easing the search for a home, we improve transparency and advance racial and economic equity. Our data can inform what affordable housing the state already has and what renters are looking for.
